“The Book was Better” Book Club List

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie – This was our inaugural book. We chose it because my friend happened to be reading it and it happened to be a movie. It was a super quick read and everyone was hooked from the beginning! We ended up watching the oldest version we could find, which was a really fun change of pace!

The Rhythm Section by Mark Burnell – We chose this book because the preview had Blake Lively with dark hair. How could we not?! I really enjoyed the book, but was surprised at how much the movie left out! This is definitely an action packed book so it can be a challenge to keep track of all the characters and the passage of time.

Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick – Somehow, I was the only person who had not seen this movie, let alone knowing it was originally a book! I really enjoyed both. Some of the relationship dynamics were changed which changed some of the storyline, but overall I recommend both. This is a quick and easy read!

Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes – I have to confess that I did not finish this book. Everyone else who read it enjoyed it. We all adored the movie! It did not fully follow the storyline, but this did not take away from the story. This is definitely a feel good book and movie!

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham – The movie, “Christmas with the Kranks,” was based on this novel. It is honestly one of the few books that I have actually laughed out loud at. Very heart warming read during Christmas season. I was very surprised considering Grisham is not typically known for light hearted comedies.

Wild by Cheryl Strayed – I found this book entertaining considering its a book about walking. The book focuses on the relationships in Cheryl’s life and some of the people that she met on the trail wile we felt the movie focused on her internal struggles. Overall, both we entertaining and definitely not a role, you would expect Reese Whitherspoon to take on, but she was perfect for it!

Julie and Julie by Julie Powell – Reading now! More to come!

Although, I only recommend products that I have used, as an Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
